Explained: Seed vs Expansion Keywords
At SpeedPPC we refer to your 'Seed' keywords as your core set of search terms that most closely describe your product or service.
For example; your business offers 'personal loans' so your 'Seed' keywords would be a list of search terms that are close variations of the keywords 'personal loan'. If you also offer 'business loans' we suggest you save keywords that are close variations of the keyword 'business loans' as a separate list of 'Seed' keywords.
Likewise; if your eCommerce site sells 'tucker hats', your 'Seed' keywords would be a list of search terms that are close variations of the keywords 'trucker hat'. If you also offer 'sunglasses' or other accessories, we suggest you save keywords that are close variations of the keyword 'sunglasses' as a separate list of 'Seed' keywords.
Keep in mind you don't have to use correct capitalization here. You can adjust these later using special tokens that modify the capping.
Head to the Keyword tab on the main menu to create and save 'Seed' keyword lists so they are handy when you come to build your campaigns.
Think about 'Expansion' keywords as words that you want to use to describe your products and services.
To follow on from the example above, you may want to extend your keywords with a location, city or state, or perhaps expand 'trucker hats' by a range of colours. Cities and colours become separate 'Expansion' lists of keywords that you can save and use when you come to build your campaigns.
Remember, SpeedPPC has a library of pre-saved expansion keyword lists ready and waiting for you to use. You'll be able to see these lists when you click 'Load saved keywords' when you come to build your campaign.
